In February 2017, India demonstrated a high demand for sunflower oil. During several recent months, the import supplies reached record rates. According to Oil World figures, in the reporting month India imported 209 thsd tonnes of the product, an increase of 2.4 times compared with the same month last year.
However, in February Ukraine still remained the major supplier of sunflower oil to India. According to customs statistics, in the reporting month the exports of Ukrainian sunflower oil to India totaled 195.3 thsd tonnes, up 6.4% compared with the previous month. Generally, in September-February of 2016/17 MY Ukraine supplied 980 thsd tonnes of sunflower oil to India, up 43% compared with the same period last season.
